Mike Brady was your typical good samaritan tucked in the cozy corners of the Santa Ynez Valley with his two children and wife. He established himself there as a real estate agent with the Brady Group. However, his world was turned upside down when his daughter, Anna, died in 1991. She was still a Junior in high school at the time.

Anna was a ray of sunshine that shone the brightest even on the darkest of days. She was beloved by the community and adored by her friends.

The Scholarship That Keeps Anna’s Light Alive

The parents of Anna Brady were simply heartbroken, the worst part of all this was that they didn’t know what to do with all the love they had for their long-gone daughter. So, they turned to the community with this love and established ‘The Anna Brady Celebration Of Life Scholarship’, hoping that their love for their daughter could be placed in a better place and carried on forever.

Fast forward to a spring day in 2002, the doorbell rang in the house of Erica Jane Flores, which changed her life forever. It was a letter stating that The Anna Brady Celebration of Life Scholarship will take care of her college tuition. It was the achievement of a lifetime for Erica and she was sure as hell to use it that way.

Full Circle in the Valley

20 years later, Erica Jane became the CEO of the Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People, which is a non-profit organization focused on improving the lives of the residents of Santa Ynez Valley, Los Alamos and neighboring communities. She had started working alongside the man whose courageous decision had transformed her adolescent life (life is quite funny in its mysterious ways).

Champion Of The Valley

Mike Brady, pronounced Champion Of The Valley(2025), is recognized by the people of the Valley as a quiet hero who didn’t let life strip him of his love, and instead poured it all out to his community. Champions Of The Valley, is a 30 year long beloved tradition by the people of the Valley in which they honour the superheroes of their community, whose quiet dedication and love helped make the community what it is.

A Legacy Measured In Lives

“Mike Brady is a Champion of the Valley in every sense. Not because of a title or a single accomplishment, but because of the lives he’s touched, the legacy he’s nurtured, and the example he sets for all of us.” – Flores

According to Noozhawk, for more than three decades, the Bradys’ awarded scholarships to nearly 50 Santa Ynez Valley high school graduates, each one representing a life forever changed. Instead of crawling into a dark, lonely space after the death of their daughter, the parents of Anna Brady decided that they would carry on the legacy of their daughter in an honorable way.

What Mike Believes

Mike’s philosophy in life helped him get through this difficult time and made him who he is.

Hope Is A Thing With Feathers

Life can throw many turning points at us, it can change its gears and rev up its wheels whenever it pleases and then it leaves it up to us to clean its mess and live with it. However, fortunately, we have been designed to be able to swerve the challenges that life throws at us and emerge victorious.

So, we must always be ready to fight, we must always be gloved up, and we must always be ready to run out of the ring when necessary. You never know what you’re gonna get but neither does anybody else. So please, take it easy on yourself and others, and give some grace to everyone around you.
